Chirwa, Mwashiuya fit, Tambwe doubtful

YOUNG Africans’ Zambian striker Aubrey Chirwa and Burundian Amissi Tambwe remain a major doubt to feature in the Sunday’s Mainland Premier League encounter against Njombe Mji at the Sabasaba grounds in Makambako.

Team Doctor, Edward Bavu told the ‘Daily News’ yesterday that while Chirwa and winger Geoffrey Mwashiuya have started light training yesterday, Tambwe is still sidelined and was undergoing special treatment.

“Chirwa and Mwashiuya started light training today (yesterday) and we will continue to monitor their fitness before they are cleared fit to travel with the rest of the squad to Njombe for the league fixture,” he said.

He added; “Tambwe is still on special treatment ... we expect him to start light training in a week time and thereafter, the technical bench will decided whether to use him or not depending on his fitness.”

Other players who were on the injury list and are said to have resumed training include goalkeeper, Beno Kakolanya and attacking midfielder, Hussein Akilimali.

Yanga will be searching for their first league win this season, after their disappointing kick off in which they were held to a 1-1 draw by determined Lipuli FC at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam on August 27th, this year.

Other league matches lined up for Sunday include a fixture to pit Singida United, who will play host to Mbao FC at the Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma, Mtibwa Sugar will welcome Mwadui FC at the Manungu grounds, Turiani, Morogoro, while Kagera Sugar will host Ruvu Shooting at the Kaitaba Stadium in Bukoba.
