FOUR teams command the Street Champions League that continues to rage at Mnadani ground in the new district of Kigamboni in Dar es Salaam.

The league which enters its second round this week has drawn sixteen teams with Apolo FC claiming a pilot seat in Group A table, while Group B is commanded by Tungi Talent.

Apolo FC are ahead with four points after playing two matches, winning one and drawing the other. Group B leaders, Tungi Talent have carved four points also from two matches.

They have won once and drew once too. Kishada FC are enjoying the Group C’s helm with four points after winning one match and also drawing the other.

Group D leaders, Mkunazini FC have also sealed four points, like other top three, won one game and drew the second.

Sixteen teams from the newly formed Dar es Salaam district of Kigamboni are taking part in the league.

The league attracts a big number of spectators coming to see talented players, according to the league’s sponsors; Muhamed Issa and Jumanne Omari.

“After seeing that most teams were just playing friendly games without anything to compete for, we (sponsors) decided to establish the league in order to pull together different teams on the same spot and fight for the championship,” said Issa.
