FOLLOWING increasing public complaints over deception in Dar Rapid Transit (UDART) electronic ticketing system, the firm’s Executive Director, Mr David Mgwassa has confirmed the sacking of “all fraudsters” and that the campaign to purge the company of more cheats is still in progress.

It has transpired that some of dishonest staff usually issue only student tickets valued at 200/- even when an adult passenger has paid the full fare 650/-, meaning that the fraudsters pocket 450/- in “personal gain” from each adult ticket.

“The fraudsters do not only rob the passenger but also the company…. 450/- from each client is really a serious theft but we have succeeded to control it and investigations are still on,” he said.

Meanwhile, some tickets are said to have ‘disappeared’ from suburban Mbezi bus station after they were issued – then collected back -- from passengers just before boarding, arguing that tickets were “property of passengers”.
