CCM chair: Magufuli is the man for Ikulu

Mwanza CCM Regional Chairman Dr Anthony Diallo.Mwanza CCM Regional Chairman Dr Anthony Diallo.

THE humble approach for the country’s top office showed by CCM Union presidential candidate Dr John Magufuli is a sign that he would make a credible, hardworking and trustworthy Head of State if elected on October 25 this year.

Mwanza CCM Regional Chairman Dr Anthony Diallo said on Saturday that Dr Magufuli has demonstrated a unique style among other presidential aspirants by spending the smallest amount of money, let alone finishing the preliminary processes with a low profile.

Those characteristics not only portray Dr Magufuli as a well mannered presidential material but also shows the country was set to have a statesman who will spend every cent for the development of the people and not otherwise, he said.

"The style that Dr Magufuli demonstrated was unique. I once asked him how much he spent during the preliminary stages that included travelling for endorsement, and what he told me showed the kind of president we're set to have if we all elect him,” he said.

Dr Diallo told people who attended the inauguration of the election campaigns for Ilemela constituency that while there were reports of some other presidential aspirants spending billions to meet the nomination requirements, Dr Magufuli spent only 1.7m/-.

He told Ilemela residents that they had a reason to elect the CCM candidate to the State House this October because he possesses all the qualities Tanzanians need, including being honest to public finances.

Dr Diallo earlier denied allegations that he and another prominent party leader in the region, Mr Christopher Mwita Gachuma, had planned to defect to the opposition CHADEMA, rubbishing the rumours as unfounded.

He urged Ilemela CCM members and all eligible voters to vote for the Ilemela CCM parliamentary candidate Ms Anjelina Mabula who was the only woman among the 19 contestants who were vying to replace the incumbent MP.

He said he knew Ms Mabula as a no nonsense public servant who was ready to apply all her potentials to lead the Ilemela voters to their desired development ambitions.

Before Ms Mabula climbed the podium, all the 18 fellow aspirants whom she beat in the nomination polls took the floor and vowed to support her in taking the seat from Mr Highness Kiwia of Chadema.

Outlining her priorities, Ms Mabula said she would apply her accounting knowledge to count every shilling and allocate it to the constituency’s development programmes.

“Education, economic empowerment, health and infrastructure development are some of my top priorities that I am going to vigorously focus on the election manifesto being my point of reference,” she said.

According to her, Ilemela constituency had a total 541 of kilometres of roads but only 45 kilometres were constructed in tarmac level which was too little to be proud of.

She also promised to work very hard on the agricultural sector, recalling the presence of only 102 hectares of land rich for irrigation and 38 dams for aquaculture that are not adequate to cater for the growing demand of crops and fish respectively.

Ms Mabula also promised to improve the fishing sector which Ilemela residents depend on for their economy.
